Good design and fresh branding is for everyone. Any municipality deserves the chance to put its best foot forward and tell the world what it stands for, and Monticello, Mississippi (population 2400) is no exception.
As the county seat of Lawrence County, Monticello wanted to be more recognizable and official in its presentation to the world, and wanted to build a stronger sense of civic identity and pride.
Set on the banks of the Pearl River, the town's natural beauty was the aspect the committee wanted to highlight most.
The final design included references both to the ample forest of the surrounding land, and to the all-important Pearl River. The committee also requested the tagline, "A river of possibilities." Finally, I proposed a series of t-shirts for volunteers to wear during summer events.
